Field Trip Ideas

I finally was able to get my computer turned on and get to my list of ideas! Praise Jesus!

Anyway, here's the list I had come up with:

Greenbush Observatory - Greenbush, KS
PSU Planetarium - Pittsburg, KS
PSU Nature Reach - Pittsburg, KS
Greenbush Rainforest - Greenbush, KS
Big Brutus - West Mineral, KS
Cosmosphere - Hutchison, KS
Little House on the Prairie - Wayside, KS
Crawford County Museum - Girard, KS
Crawford County Historical Museum - Pittsburg, KS
Reptile World - Joplin, MO

I have more detailed information on each of these if we decide we are interested. Please check out the links I've provided if you want to know more about each place.

If you were not at the meeting, please do not feel overwhelmed by these last two posts! They are just ideas and discussion starters for spring field trips. We aren't trying to do them all now.

Don't forget to post your thoughts on these ideas or the ones in the previous post in the comments section!

  1. I like all the Pittsburg ideas. My family has already been to the Historical Museum though, so we probably would pass on that. The Greenbush options sound good. Is there a cost? Reptile World looks cool but it is too pricey for us right now.

  2. My ideas might aim more toward the younger group, and some might be better for fall:

Tour of a the fire station and/or police station

Prairie State Park -- there are trails and in the building there are all sorts of fun things in the drawers

Pumpkin patch (in the fall, obviously)

    Tour of McDonald's

I agree that lower cost would make it more doable for us too. Also, since my kids are younger and get worn out quicker more in town shorter trips would be more attractive to us. But with my track record I will probably get sick at the last minute anyway, so don't plan anything around me :)
