Mom's Meetings Revisited

Hello Homeschooling Friends!

We had a small, but fun, beginning of the year meeting Monday evening.  We talked about some ideas, not a lot conclusive yet.  However, we did discuss the monthly mom's meetings.  Over the last couple of years, these meetings have waned in popularity.  Those of us who gathered still think meeting together, encouraging one another, has value.  Being with like-minded people refreshes and revives us, spurs us on to love and good deeds.

So...we tossed out the idea of centering each meeting around a theme to give an extra purpose for coming, an added dividend so to speak.

We are still planning to meet the 3rd Monday of each month.  The meetings will be from 7-9 pm at Ron's IGA Coffee Shop.

For our 1st meeting, September 15th, Sharri Emmerling has volunteered to speak to us about 1ce/month cooking for a month's worth of meals.  She said this technique really helped her when her children were young.  Since MANY of you have young children, this topic should be of some real value to you.

We hope you will consider making these meetings a priority.  We hope you will share any ideas YOU have about what you would like to cover together at the meetings. 

Some other ideas we had were to read a book together and discuss it or to bring books we are currently reading and share ideas from them.  We could submit questions to the seasoned homeschoolers and have a panel to answer them.  The possibilities are endless.  So, get on board, and let's make this year an new adventure TOGETHER!

Summer is Flying By

I hope everyone is having a great summer.  I looked at when we are supposed to start back and had to take a big gulp!  Ready or not, here it comes!  Wow!!!

I will only be teaching 1 grade this year.  I am quite excited about that!  Isaac and Seth will be 8th graders.  Last year before highschool. Yikes!

Curriculum Sell/Swap - March 1st

I have reserved Trinity Baptist Church (corner of Elm and Washington) on MARCH 1st for our curriculum sell/swap.

Time:  9:30-11:00am

Bring whatever you want to sell with the prices you want in mind.  If 2 ladies have something each other wants, they can swap if both are in agreement.

I thought I would bring a coffeecake and a bottle of juice.  If anyone else wants to contribute to munchies, she is welcome to do so.

I think this will be fun.  I hope it will be beneficial to all involved.  And I'm glad we can do it ahead of our next year's retail purchases.
