Welcome back to homeschool!
Thank you to everyone who attended tonight's meeting. The food was delicious; kids enjoyed themselves; and conversation was punctuated with many laughs all around. Thank you to the Harley family for hosting us.
We moms were all in agreement on one thing ... Let's get together more often! We've missed the fellowship of years past, both for moms and kids. Here are many of the ideas we tossed around for the upcoming school year.

Field Trips
- Share what your individual families are doing for field trips and invite the group along when appropriate. Simply make a post or create a group event with the details. Anyone can do this!
- If someone has a field trip idea that requires a group outing, go for it! Set it up and let us know.
- Aim for the occasional far away field trip. Kansas City metro, Northeast Oklahoma, Northwest Arkansas, etc. We were thinking one or two of these at most.
Mom's Meetings
- Coffee dates, Saturday brunches, one-on-one time with another homeschooling mom. Anything to reiterate that we are not in this alone! Let us take advantage of the encouraging words and listening ears from one another.
- Annual Kansas City Women's Encouragement Day in late January/early February. This event typically has wonderful speakers, a prayer room, yummy breakfast treats, catered lunch, and all around encouragement for that time of the year when so many are feeling a bit burned out.
Kids/Teens Get Togethers
- Everyone loves park days. This is something we will leave on the calendar with some park hopping, so kids don't get bored of the same play space.
- Teens need time for big kid things. Skating, bowling, Nerf wars, board games, movie night, etc. If you have an idea, feel free to plan for or host this fantastic group of kids.
Learning Workshops
- One of the dads volunteered to teach a language workshop. Yay! Be on the lookout for this event.
- One of the moms volunteered to teach a craft or sewing workshop. Watch the events tab for more info.
- Pittsburg has a homeschool co-op brand new this year! They are offering reading and swim classes for the fall. A nursery is provided for younger siblings.
- Kansas City and Wichita homeschool groups each host a Homeschool Conference and Curriculum Fair in the spring. Along with great workshops for mom, dad, and teens, they offer a wonderful children's program.
Supporting Our Kids
- All of our kids are involved in something. As homeschoolers, our kids don't always have a built-in fan base the way their public school counterparts do. Let us know what your kids are involved in - sports, music, theatre, etc. We would love to come out and cheer them on!

Above all, we want the group to be welcoming for all members. We are a faith based group and wish to offer support to all who choose to teach at home.
Best wishes and happy homeschooling!

Free Curriculum Available
I have a contact who has offered a variety of curriculum for free. She was gifted with it and just wants to re-gift and pass on the blessing.
Most of it is math of all ages. Some lit and writing. Reading books for early readers. Science for the lower grades. You will just have to contact her and ask if she has what you need
Contact me if you are interested, and I will get you her contact information.

Field Trip Organizers Needed
Many of the field trip ideas we have posted are more of the spring variety. However, the traditional post office, police dept., and fire dept. would be in doors and perfect fall field trip opportunities.
If any mom's are interested in those field trips, we need a organizer for each of those. If you are willing, you can run with it and post your info here and/or on the blog.
